Bio
This LJ is sort of my "Id" - where I vent my sensual, creative side - the main LJ is [info]fascinoma.

My 5 points of Quirks:
* Carries a round stone in pocket.
* Fond of shiny cobalt blue things.
* Likes to people-watch.
* Intensely fascinated by things that are "gross".
* Insanely curious about the world.

I'm married, bi, quirky, female into... just about everything.

I'm a "Ju-Bu" (Jewish Buddhist... sort of, though inactive in both), politically moderate, an avid and devoted carnivore, and an ex-vegetarian.

I'm one of those pesky secular humanists bent on destroying the moral foundation of our country. I have Buddhist leanings so it makes me rather a slacker as moral destroyers go.

I like classical music and industrial music both.

I like cats.

I like monkeys.

I like staring at goldfish tanks.

I like dragonflies.

I also like cheese.

I tried to be a "bad girl" as a teenager. I was bad at it. So I suppose I'm an ex-bad-bad-girl.

I think old people are sexier than young ones.

I'm an armchair traveller.

I read hard SF on the one hand and "chick-lit" on the other. Maybe one day I'll write sci-fi chick lit.

I am a pretentious geek who isn't really good at computers so all in all it's pretty empty pretention.

I do believe I had a more awkward teenage life than most.

I've been a few different things: graphic artist, general web person, tech writer, software quality assurance engineer.

Now I'm a 31 year old re-entry student, and biology major.

I'm totally obsessed with medical stuff, and in addition to being a medigeek I am also a "medfan" in that I love reading doctor stories/books/blogs.

I'm fascinated by Chinese civilization and language. My recent endeavor was the study of Mandarin Chinese. Presently delayed due to needing to pump some more effort into the math front. It's a lifelong dream so I'll get back to it one day.

Vocationally and avocationally, I'm a graphic artist.

Avocationally I'm sort of an amateur s/f writer although much of my writing consists of my rather soap-operatic fiction sagas that I post in LJ. I guess I call it "self-fanfic".

I spend much of my time making up a completely fictitious alternate reality that has lived with me since age 14 - that makes 16 years. I no longer run the game, to speak of. But I write copious amounts.

I don't speak any other languages other than English (at least well) but other than Chinese, I've attempted to learn (Biblical) Hebrew, Tibetan, Pali, Japanese, Spanish and German now, all with the same amount of half-assedness, and the same pathetic results. I intend to somewhat less half-assedly attempt Latin and Greek one day, since they seem to be the basis of another handful of obsessions... see below.

I'm obsessed also with cataloguing systems. I love taxonomy, nosology, and pretty much the classification of anything and everything. I taught myself the Dewey Decimal System as a kid. Another obsessive interest is the obsessive creation of fairly useless, self-referential cataloguing systems of no real external value than to provide the creator with endless hours of amusement.

Eventually I hope to actually draw the tarot deck I've been meaning to draw.

Last but not least:

Sadly, I have a lot of naive hope for humankind.

And I'm unique. Just like everyone else.
